Testimonials

Andy's coaching has been a source of great improvement for my bike racing preparation. Training "The Old Fashioned Way" is simply not as effective as a scientific peroidized approach that factors in the rest you need and other daily influences that you will inevitably encounter. As a husband and father Andy understands as well as anyone that life sometimes gets in the way of your training and is able to help you alter you training to still get the maximum out of your training. With his use of Training Peaks as an on line training diary you are able to show what you have been doing anywhere in the world and to easily display your progress, a great advantage over some other trainers. Andy also makes sure to keep your training fresh by changing up your workouts on a regular basis, a very important factor to avoid "burnout". I for one have always been very happy with Andy's training and would not consider going elsewhere for the same services!

After my first year working with Andy I started to finish in the top ten in several road races! After many years of lackluster results I finally feel my hard work has paid off - thanks Andy!

At age 37, after having 3 children, I decided I wanted to get fit and compete in a triathlon. I had always been a runner, competing in Track and Cross Country in High School and College. So I began riding road bikes and swimming. I competed in 1 triathlon in 2001, 3 in 2002, 7 in 2003 and began full race seasons in 2004. I started to see small improvements in my performance each year, and started placing in my age group in a few races. I wanted to start improving my performance at a faster rate then I was. In 2007, I started working with Andy Gibbs in an effort to increase my performance and placing not only in my age group, but overall. Andy tailored a training plan for my needs in an effort to improve my performance in specific races throughout the race season. I placed in the top 3 in my age group 7 times and placed in the top 3 overall 5 times. I also placed in team events twice. My times improved 11 out of 16 races and with a 79% time improvement from the previous year.

Andy taught me the importance of having a plan and following it, that included built in rest time. I’m not good with rest days, but I could see improvements as long as I stuck to the plan. Andy’s tailored training plans, willingness to adjust my plan due to my schedule changes, explaining the importance of weight training and teaching me the theory behind his methods and how it would help me see improvements in my performances has been invaluable to me. At age 44, I am still seeing performance improvements and placing more often then not in Triathlons, Biathlons, Duathlons, Road Races, Mountain bike races, and Adventure races. I attribute much of my success to Andy’s coaching skills.

I am not much of a writer, I am not even racing right now. But, I did learn tons from you when I first started racing/riding. I went from a weak Cat 5 to a competitive Cat 3 with what I learned from you.
